There's a moment a lot of women know well.

You see something you love. For a second, you picture yourself in it. Then a thought creeps in, "maybe that's not really for me."

I built Elise & Mae because I kept hearing this from the women in my life. Beautiful, capable women who'd quietly stopped choosing pieces that made them feel like themselves, settling for whatever was easy, safe, forgettable.

That never sat right with me.

So before anything goes on this site, I ask one real question: would I want someone I love wearing this, feeling confident in it, reaching for it again and again? If the answer isn't an immediate yes, it doesn't make the cut.

I'm still building this myself. I read every message. And every time someone trusts us enough to try something new, that's the whole reason I do this.
